Our Story
At Our Ancestors' Foods, our passion for healthy and sustainable agriculture is rooted in our family's history. My grandparents on my father's side lived on a homestead where they grew their own food and thrived well into their late 90s, using bicycles as their mode of transportation. As for me, Leo, farming has been a lifelong passion. When I moved to the United States from Venezuela, I pursued it full-time starting with a hydroponic tomato farm and then a small cattle ranch.
Unfortunately, despite my dedication to healthy eating, I gradually began to consume more processed foods over time. After 20 years, I was diagnosed with diabetes and prescribed medication to manage it.
I was told that the disease was incurable and would worsen over time, requiring more medication and possibly insulin. My triglycerides skyrocketed, and every visit to the doctor resulted in more prescriptions.
In May 2020, my doctor informed me that my health was deteriorating rapidly, and that insulin was a possibility. Determined to take control of my health, I started researching and stumbled on expensive and intensive options. I was determined to do what it takes to avoid the painful life ahead, but these programs did not seem to be the right solution. I continued my research on natural approaches to healing and came across a book "The Complete Guide to Fasting" by Dr. Jason Fung. This book was a revelation and inspired me to give the paleo diet another try. A few days later, I stumbled upon Dr. Boz's YouTube channel and was convinced that a carnivore diet was the way forward for me.
Since then, I have become 95% carnivore and practice intermittent fasting regularly. I feel better now than I did 25 years ago, having lost 110 pounds, reduced my triglycerides to 99 mg/dL, my glucose to 89 mg/dL, and my A1C to 5.2. I take no medication and am committed to living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Following my own health journey, I began to understand the importance of real, minimally-processed food in maintaining optimal health. Unfortunately, it can be challenging to find high-quality, sustainable meat that aligns with keto and carnivore diets. That's why my family and I decided to start Our Ancestors' Foods, to provide others with access to the same healthy, sustainable, and delicious grass-fed beef that we enjoy.
My grandmother would always remind me to "eat food as nature intended, not as humans modify it for taste or appearance." Her words stuck with me and have taken on a deeper meaning as I've learned about the harmful effects of processed and modified foods. Sadly, the food and pharmaceutical industries profit from our suffering by creating addictive and unhealthy products that require more and more medication to manage. At Our Ancestors' Foods, we believe that real, minimally-processed food is the key to a healthier future for ourselves and the planet.
Our mission is to support our customers on their journey towards optimal health by providing the healthiest and most nourishing grass-fed beef possible. Our beef is free from hormones and antibiotics, and is raised using regenerative farming practices that promote soil health and biodiversity. We are proud to provide a product that not only tastes great but also supports our customers' health and aligns with their dietary goals.
Thank you for choosing Our Ancestors' Foods for your beef needs. We are honored to share our passion for healthy agriculture with you and support you in your pursuit of optimal health and wellbeing.
